"If you think in terms of a year, plant a seed;
if in terms of ten years, plant trees;
if in terms of 100 years, teach the people."
~Confucious
Heartland Gardens, Inc.Heartland Gardens is a not-for-profit community garden that spans one-acre on McGregor Boulevard in Fort Myers, Florida. All of the vegetables, herbs, fruits, nuts and fungi cultivated at the garden are grown organically and distributed locally. At Heartland, members and Lee County residents of all ages are given the opportunity to benefit from fresh, seasonal harvests.
Heartland Gardens hopes to minimize the pressures of the economic recession by teaching people how to become more self-sustainable. At Heartland Gardens we offer several hands-on, fun classes on organic gardening, food preservation, nutrition and self-sustainability. All of our classes and workshops are made available to all members of the public at cost. We also offer work/study programs and scholarships. Contact us for details. It is our charitable goal to facilitate the construction of 500 Gardens in Lee County. This enormous greening project is our way of spreading health, wellness and vitality to the community.
